CW
I would be remiss if I didn't dedicate a whole page to my love for CW (morse code).
Back in 2016, I began to research online all about "Morse Code" mainly because at the time I was really interested in Wi-Fi hacking, cyber security and coding/development. I loved anything to do with codes or cryptography.
As I began to investigate Morse Code, I soon realized and learned that in order to learn and to be able to transmit over the air you need to be licensed to do so. So, the next logical step I took was, "How do I get licensed?". And thus, without me even knowing it, my life was soon to change forever. I learned about the Technician Class license. In my mind, then, I thought I needed more than just a Technician license to talk all over the world. So, I also invested, at the same time, to learn the General Class test material. So, during my Christmas break, which was usually 2 whole weeks, I began to dillegently study until I was within a passing threshold. I scheduled my test with two volunteers at a Hardees restaraunt on a super cold day in early January. I went in. They handed me my Technician test. I aced it. The VE looked at me and said, "Based on your score I imagine you will have no trouble with this one either." and proceeded to hand me my General Class Exam. I had prepared well. I believe I only missed one test question. After that day, I was issued a General Class license and I was allowed to pursue my dreams of doing CW.
As time went on, life happened. I actually met someone over the air that recommended me to apply at a job I currently hold. I owe that to Ham radio and my love for it. I wish I could say that I was able to jump right in and start learning CW and by now I would be a master at it. Truthfully, I set the radio aside and got busy with other hobbies and adventures in life. I don't regret those choices. Recently has been the best season for me to get into radio and now I am able to dedicate more time to learning CW. Sometimes, seasons in life just happen that way. There is nothing wrong with that.
So, now I have been very active doing Pota hunts on CW as well as trying to headcopy using instant character recognition. I can send fairly well but still haven't quite gotten that instant reaction yet from my brain that I am looking for to be able to send and copy the way I want to. It is something I am working on every day. Here are the two keys I use. I primarily use the Paddle as I am best at it.
